That most probably have to do that you either
1. Do a import of matching records and there is no matching records
2. You have validation on your table that you import data to and records that you import do not pass does validations
There is no validation on that field, and also there is matching records.
But all those records that has the value 0, probarly has been selected 1 or 2 in the select list and then after selected the empty value that is 0. But Filemaker dont want to show this value as empty when its a part of a dropdown.
How could I make the drop down show a "empty" value when the it is 0 in this field? The drop down list is from the related table STATUS.
Dropdown have nothing to do with Data in your table. You can choose to show that fields data in a ordinary field if you like to see exact value.
If your Value List is based on Numeric Value 0,1 and 2 then maybe 0 is a part of a Value List, but if you check in that field if 0 is Valid, then 0 is False, meaning no Value. Like a Boolean, 0 = False and 1 = True
So is there no way to make filemaker show empty/invisible value in a dropdown? I tried to write "" insted of 0 in the one of the records, then the dropdown list show ""
The dropdown only show the second field not the key
If your Value List have a fixed values
And your actual value of that field is 0, your Dropdown will show 0.
If you are trying to use a a Value List that is based on related records with ID in first field and Name in second field, if you have 0 in first field you will not get a value in second field since 0 is nothing/false
Why dont you change all 0 to 3 and make that Status calculation be 1 , 2 or 3 instead of 0 ,1 and 2.
But the same thing happens when removing the value in the second field on the 1 and 2 as well, then filemaker shows the first field value.
There would be great to have an empty possibility in the dropdown itself.

A value list that displays values from a field cannot values that do not exist.
You'll need to select a value that you treat as empty or use a custom value list for these values.
Note thst an suto-enter calculation can detect the 0 for empty and clear the field.
If ( self = 0 ; "" ; self )
clear the do not replace option.
I made a new value to the dropdown table, and made an auto-enter calc. and this worked. Also just deleted all the 0 in the field, because this just look like empty records in the previous database
