TextStyleAdd misbehaves

I have a calculation for coinstructing a bibliography

"xx" & TextStyleAdd (B_author_biblio; Vet) & " (" & B_year & "). " & If (B_publisher  ≠ ""; TextStyleAdd (B_title; Cursief) & ". " & B_publisher & "."; If (B_in_title ≠ ""; B_title & ". In: " & TextStyleAdd (B_in_title; Cursief) & ", " & B_in_volume; " <== nog aanpassen" ))

I have to put a character first otherwise the first TextSTyleAdd is applied to the complete calculation and not only the part indicated  in the first TextAstyleAdd. The other TextStyleAdd behave correctly.

I have tried a number of non-printing characters a a work around but that is not working.

With the extra characters first:

xxWagenaar, F.J. (ed) (1957). Rondebosch Down the Years, 1657 – xxxx. Rondebosch.

This without the extra charcters first (all iin bold)

Wagenaar, F.J. (ed) (1957). Rondebosch Down the Years, 1657 – xxxx. Rondebosch.
