Copy and Paste From One Record to Another Record

How might I go about this? I have put together a reference database, containing reference data from two different sources.

  1. I have scrapped a list of topics from the web,
  2. And imported the sub directory paths (sub directories that have reference information in them) from part of my file structure, into the same table as reference type 1, using OpenURL I can open those directories to access to the files in those directories.

Both of these sets of data are in the same table, this part is done.

Some of the two types of data may be related. I would like to be able to manually relate the two data items as I use the data. Looking for suggestions how I might do that.

I was thinking that I could click on a record (and "copy" the directory path that I have stored in that record), then click on the second record type (that I would like to relate to the first) and "paste" the directory path into a field in that record. The path could then be accessed with OpenURL and a button. Open to some other approach.
