IanJempson demoed integration with Slack on the last UK community meeting, but I am not sure if it was a direct link from FileMaker
It does not look like Basic Authentication is available from Slack so you will need to use one of the plugins, which can use curl (or wait for the next version of FileMaker). An alternative would be to build a middleware web app which will allow Basic Authentication and link to Slack using OAuth.

nicolai I demoed it in Berlin at DotFMP. The integration wasn't direct from FileMaker, it was written in Ruby hosted on Heroku and connecting to the FileMaker Server which was running on an AWS instance. The Slack API is well documented so it's pretty easy to work out.
I like Nicolai's idea of a middle-ware implementation. Using a simple (as one example) micro service, you could keep your oAuth outside FMP so many different apps could use it. It's quick, easy, and best yet, you could use it now (oh, and of course it's free).
Simple code like this might be all you need:
And, once you create a simple micro service, THEN in FMP, you could call it using:
INSERT FROM URL
CURL in a CF.
And since the micro service is outside FMP, you could call it from the browser or any OTHER program that can execute HTTP command verbs like GET/POST, etc.
Thank you fmpdude. I appreciate your input on an approach to this challenge.
Thank you Ian Jempson. Thanks for providing some guidance here.
Thank you Nicolai. Your input has been helpful.
Thank you user25682. I will have to search that information out.
