Serve the file from a FileMaker Server.
I always have a developers FMS where I do all my development of my solutions. I then got backups and can reach it no matter where I am.
You are more then welcome to have your solution at our hosting environment.
Thank you both, and sorry for the late reply.
I already serve the databases on a FileMaker Server -- I was more thinking, what other developers do when developing NEW solutions which still is in a testing phase, with several developers making changes to the final project.
I took the debate with my manager, and we agreed to deploy a separate test environment for testing purpose only.
It depends on your setup, but having two different servers is a good idea - one for development and one for the live system (production). Ideally, you would also have a server for testing, where you can merge recent data with recent development. This becomes quite expensive though, so it depends on the company or client size.
you can still HOST on FMS and limit access to the database(s) to only those developing. All the advantages, none of the other users will see them.
