Good day to you all
I was wondering how i can stop this modal dialog from appearing when user clicks an empty space. i do not have any records in the layout.
I rather have a custom message than Filemaker message.
Thank you in advance
Unfortunately the only way to stop it is to redesign your layout or add a 'dummy' record when there are no records.
Note that this message only appears in List View and not Form View or Table View.
Put a big transparent button over the layout that bring up a show custom dialog with your message.
I just tried that in list view and it doesn't work. I put the top of the button in the Header section but the button still doesn't extend to the list body. Putting the button in the body section doesn't work because there is no record to make a body.
Did I miss another way of adding the button that works?

Huh? This error appears in form view if there are no records and you attempt to enter a field. Same as in list view.
I see. It happens in list view regardless of where you click. In form view it only happens if you click in a field. I was testing on a blank layout.
can't be hidden.
although it's somewhat annoying, IMHO the behavior is correct. There are many situations where this dialog helps!
I'm not a fan of overlaying objects (transparent buttons, etc), it's painfull when developing/wirking on layouts.
If there is a problem with that dialog, I prefer a solution where users are not in that layout if there are no records present. Can be done via layout-trigger, etc.
If it happens after a search, just have a search script that shows all records (with a message) if there are no hits - or go to a 'header'-layout
