Do you really want to copy the table, (the field definitions) , Or just send the data in the table to the other file? Do you want to create a new table in that other file or is there already a table there into which to store this data?
It sounds like you are describing tasks that can be done with Import Records, but:
The network is wireless peer to peer that is not reliable
could make that very problematic. You may need to research "synch" tools by the folks at SeedCode or 360works for a synch tool to use for this task.
If DB1 is the database you're working on, enhancing it and DB2 the one users work on, what you really need is
- save a clone of DB1
- import records from DB2 into DB1
- delete DB2 and replace it with the filled clone
and I would do it manually.
I ran into a couple of issues while exporting table data for the DB Clone.
I tried to create a Layout for a "Products" table but I didn't see it as a selection within the "New Layout/Report" dialog box, there were other tables not available as well.
What I did see was a list of table occurrence names with some other table names.
My database has 13 tables, and only 5 of the table names can be seen in the "Show Record from" drop down list.
When setting up a new layout you must select a table occurrence for that new layout. If you don't see a table occurrence listed, no such table occurrence exists. It's possible to have a table in Manage | Database | Tables that does not have any corresponding Table Occurrences in Manage | Database | Relationships. If that's the case, you can't base a layout, nor a portal on that table until you create a new table occurrence for that table and then select it for your layout.
