LOL, but not really so funny. I hate that too. I only apply the sig:
Sent from miPhone
and then you other iOS people know that Siri's to blame not me for these silly errors.
Thank you for your post!
I always thought the Auto-Correct would be iOS/Software specific. I'm not sure what control FileMaker or Jive might have, but I will forward this for review and let you know of any feedback I receive.
It might be worth a quest to philmodjunk:
using iOS Browser to the forum or
using iOS mail to the forum post(s)?
I've noticed anomolies with post-by-email (any platform).
I keep checking the JIVE forums for things like this.
Not using mail. Using Safari. And the same thought occurred to me that this may have nothing to do with Jive, yet the issues that I described do not occur in other contexts and are glaringly bad auto-corrects that seem to be due to some part of the process "losing track" of what has been previously entered--especially after pressing the delete key. Also, there are times when tapping to select a suggested word fails to input any text at all.
It it might be that this seems the case due to the fact that most data-entry to Safari that I do is here. But Apple doesn't norMalloy do that crappy a job with their own apps.
Several of of the errors you see here in the last two paragraphs are examples. "It", "of", and "norMalloy" are all cases where either text that I entered once was re-entered or "nor" was not treated as part of the word when producing auto-correct text.
I've created and cancelled several posts from iPhone today and can't replicate the specific issue you are seeing. Autocorrect is working as well (or not) for me as it works in pretty much any other web forum. I also tested making corrections with the delete key instead of accepting autocorrect, and see the same behavior here as I see in other (non-Jive) forums. In my experience, using the delete key always confuses or cancels autocorrect--that's not a problem just here--I have the same problem in email, FileMaker Go, and anywhere I type on the tiny keyboard.
Here's an article from Computerworld about how autocorrect is designed to interact with the delete key. It points out that autocorrect learns not to correct words when you've used the delete key. Hope this helps.
If you'd like me to escalate, I can, but I'm not sure how much good it will do.
But why on earth would it re-enter text already entered? And I haven't seen that with any other app.
