how to write a script to look up records based on specific field

I am making a mouse database for my lab and I have a table called crosses which contains the information about all of the mice that are currently breeding. Each cross is assigned a unique cross ID which becomes associated with its offspring so that way you can track the parents of each mouse if any genotype abnormalities arise. I have an inventory of all the mice we currently have which uses a different table. Both tables contain the cross ID field and are connected through that relationship. I am trying to write a script that can be used to find the parents pf any given mouse using the cross ID field.

I've tried entering find mode but I can't get it to work, please help.
