I've been looking through other discussions that have this same question but since they don't pertain directly to how I want to use the conditional values I can't wrap my head around how to use it.
I have a mouse database that keeps track of all the mice my lab has ever had, even the dead ones. When you set up a new mating cage you have to specify the ear tag number of the male and female. I have these 2 fields set up as drop down lists currently but in the ear tag field the list shows you the ear tag of every mouse we've ever had. I want it to only show the ear tags for the male mice that are alive. I'll then want to do this same thing for the female mice that are alive.
I call these "hardwired conditional value lists" because, unlike other uses of a CVL, the user is not asked to select the filter value, the solution sets it for the user.
