From what I read, there needs to be a conversion to v11 first, which I don't own. Suggestions?
Thank you for your post!
You can get trial for conversion on: Converting older FileMaker Pro files to the .fmp12 file format
I hope this helps!
Thanks for the link. I have accessed that page previously, and what I understand it to say is that I need to first convert to v11. Is that correct? If so, is there a free version to use? When I purchased v.13, I was assured I could convert my v.5 databases to v.13, and nothing about multiple conversions was mentioned.
You do have to follow the process explained in the article above. FileMaker 5 files will need to go into FileMaker Pro 11 to convert to .fp7 files. From there, the .fp7 are opened in FileMaker Pro 13 to be our latest .fmp12 format. There is a 30 day trial of FileMaker Pro 11 in the article. If you are unable to use the trial or have any further issues you may also Contact Support.
Please note that FileMaker Advanced can be very useful in determining what to do with your files once converted. The DDR (Database Design Report) can be very useful for tracking down issues on its own and if you import that DDR into a third party tool such as Base Elements or FileMaker Inspector, you can even better see what changes you might want to make, or errors to correct in the converted files.
I see the download for v.11 now. I'm not sure why, but when I looked at this before, I must have missed the link for the download. I'll try that. Thank you
