I convert my old FMP1 to FMP14, first I use a FMP7, then use a FMP11, when I open it, it display a box ask me the Account name & Password, I try many different password and user name, can not success, What is that mean? thanks.
Before version 7, there was only a password (no username).
When converting to version 7 or later, the username AND password will BOTH be set to the original password.
Changes that occur to your passwords during file conversion | FileMaker
What that mean "in the converted file are initially set to the password from the original file."?
How to find it out? thanks
Put the password you used to open original file into "accont name" and "password".
Or default account "Admin" with empty password, if you didn't use password.
If you forgot password, you can do nothing.
Thank you very much, it can open now. The second thing is I had buy FMP14, when I download the FMP11 try version, the FMP14 disappeared. How can I do? Remove the FMP11 and reload the FMP14? thanks again.
The shortcut is replaced but all files remain. You can find it in Explorer or Finder.
You should still have both installed. The install may have replaced one shortcut or alias with the other, but the applications should both still be installed and usable.
Is this Mac or Windows?
I use PC, may be I load the 32bit not match my PC. I try to load 64bit try try. thanks,
Both 32/64bit have same file name and FM installer always replace the shortcut. If you re-install FM14, you will see "FM11 disappear" although it is exist in PC.
Afterr load the FMP14 64bit, it is OK now.
But another question is once I use Mr A's password and log out, shut down the PC......, The user always Mr A. How to change to Mr.B? thanks
Enter mr B's Account name and Password when you open the file.
Everytime I click the icon, it will automatic display Mr.A's account. I want to change to Mr. B, thanks
"User name" in Edit > Preferences appear there.
I Try to set it, Thanks
Yes, edit the user name in preferences if you want a different user's account name to automatically appear in the password login dialog.
This is one of the more odd features of FileMaker. User names and Account names are not the same thing, but nevertheless, FileMaker enters the user name as the default account name in the password dialog. This causes confusion for new developers when they later discover that there are different get functions for each and don't know which to use.
The user name is only 'Sammy 1'. What can I do? thanks.
If it is "Mr.A's account", change it to "Mr.B's account".
If it is "Mr.B's", you have already done.
The PC is for 2-3 staff to use. My old FMP when Mr.A log out, Mr B open it will have to enter his password.
Now without the password protection. Thanks.
It is set in File > File Options...
Uncheck "Log in using..." checkbox.
It fixed, thanks again.
