I'm interested in finding out what others might be doing in the RFID area using FMP. What peripherals, interfaces, etc., are being used.
24U has a phidgets plugin that can be used to tie filemaker to a phidgets device.
There is an RFID read/write module for phidgets:
Phidgets Inc. - 1024_0 - PhidgetRFID Read-Write
I haven't heard of anyone tying the two of them together directly, but it should be possible.
24U Phidgets Plug-In
Actually, visiting that link 24U specifies explicitly that they do RFID read/writes with their plugin from filemaker.
Thanks for the link. Great site!
We're encoding the RFID chips via FMP to a Zebra printer. We're reading the encoded tags with a NordicID reader and importing that data into FMP and comparing that data with a "known" inventory database.
I don't believe the Phidgets reader can work for this purpose at the moment.
The first question you always have to ask about RFID is which frequency and which standard (protocol/encoding) it uses.
Our plug-in supports LF RFID using ISO11785 FDX-B via Phidgets since 2008. We made many other integrations since then and now we can integrate all popular RFID frequency ranges with FileMaker - LF, HF (NFC), and UHF, both on desktop and mobile (iOS). See http://www.24uSoftware.com/Phidgets and http://www.24uSoftware.com/Gonector for our ready-to-use plug-ins or contact me with any specific questions about RFID.
