1. what Export are you using (field contents, tab, csv, ???)
2. what colours do you want exported (background, text, ???)
3. where are you opening the exported data and expect to SEE the colours?
I don't believe any of the supported export formats support color unless you use the GetAsCSS or GetAsSVG function to create alternate versions of the fields for export. This will also require the receiving program to be able to import CSS or SVG. Also, the functions mentioned only support changes made in browse mode.
Can You please tell me how to export the records from filemaker into an excel sheet with colours. i have go through some article where i got that but am unable to remember that.
1. Do you need the CELL(s)/ROW(s)/COLUMN(s) coloured in some way?
2. AND/OR do you need the TEXT coloured in some way (red for negative numbers, for example) in particular cells?
3. For either question, have you tried HTML table which may be easier to format and open in Excel?
more information please and we may be able to point you to article(s).
i need the heading for some colours and for example if i have used
conditional formatting say for example pass means green colour and fail
means red colour this should appear in exported excel sheet too.
can you post a screen shot of what you mean?
Using HTML Table (export as HTML) and combine with @jaymo suggestion of GetAsCSS() of any field you wish to preserve formatting. You would export the calculated css version of the fields. This may or may not get what you need, so a screenshot would help.
Just I have to use filmmaker and export as excel sheet
I'm sure that's what you are doing now, but as you have found colours and other formatting can be lost in Export (or Save As): Excel. I'm asking for a screenshot of what you export (browse) mode, so we help you with alternatives to preserve the colours and formatting.
here with i have attached the screeshot. You can see the export button in
right corner when i export i just want the details and colours as same as
that in screenshot,
Thank you! the entire row appears to have the colour. Can you also post a screenshot of the conditional you are using to change that colour?
This kind of export can be "solved" with a little work & HTML calculated into a single field which is exported, then opened in Excel.
See if this article helps to understand what I mean by HTML export and open in Excel:
Your calculation would be similar, but you would change the
to include the color you need (by case statement)
something like this:
"<tr bgcolor='" & Case
( <<your field>> = "???" ; "red"
; <<your field>> = "???" ; "blue"
; <<your field>> = "???" ; "green"
; "white" ) & "'>"
It's difficult to be precise without the underlying methods & fields you are using.
its just conditional formatting. For each department we are using separate
if someone is relieved it shows red color, thats it.
hopefully I've given you enough information to get you started. If it doesn't work, post your HTML calc field and we'll see if we can debug.
ok thanks a lot.
