On this help file on FileMaker.com, it says that 6 will convert as far back as FileMaker II or FileMaker Pro 1.x
But in this conversation, a user states that 6 only converts from 2.1 and higher.
I'm wondering if maybe version 6 would work for this conversion if you were on a Mac.
Already Tried on Mac and had same issue :/ i made search here and found some topic have same issue without any real solutions .. seems you cant retrieve any old data from FileMaker 1 or 2 ...
dose anyone have setup application for filemaker 5.5 windows or mac??
The FileMaker help article has an error regarding which versions FileMaker Pro 6 can import.
Looking in the documentation (paper!) for FileMaker Pro 6, it's Getting Started guide says that the Mac version of FileMaker Pro 6 can import files as far back as FileMaker Pro 1.0, but the Windows version can only import files as far back as FileMaker Pro 2.0.
I think the reason for the different behaviour is that FileMaker Pro 1.0 never existed on Windows, so files that old must have been created on a Mac, and the Windows version never included code to support the 1.x file format.
Therefore you need someone with the Mac version of FileMaker Pro 2.0 through 6.0 to do the first conversion step.
I have a copy of version 5 or 6 installed on an old Mac so could try to do the conversion for you - send me a private message to make arrangements.
