Just to avoid asking any stupid questions, was this solution working on Server 14? And the change to 15 seems to have caused the issue?
Or were you using locally before and recently moved to the server?
This might be your clue: "a total from one db subtracted from another on a seperate db" I assume this means the "seperate db" is an external file.
Check to make sure the second file is also opening properly on the Server.
Check to make sure the external file reference to it is correct.
Check to make sure the external file reference within the unstored calculation field is correct.
Thank you for your response, this was a local file before and recently moved to the server. I can also open a local for testing and it does work that way.
Thank you again.
Okay, yeah I think I see the problem.
I agree w/ Keywords. The databases probably aren't talking to each other. Let's check a few things:
1) are both databases hosted on the same copy of FM server 15?
2) do your security settings allow the databases to access each other? (found in manage > security)
2.1) there are about a billion different ways that connections between databases can go wrong, so you'll wanna look through all of these options for BOTH files. Both files is very important.
3) Make sure that the databases know that they should be talking to each other (this is probably not your issue, but worth a check in Manage > external data sources.
Did that work for you?
Simply posting the calculation would help others to be better able to help you. Also a description of exactly how it isn't working can provide useful clues. You get a ? result, a "field missing", blank field, wrong value.....
