So is FileMaker 16 officially released?
Learn FileMaker Pro – FileMaker Pro 16 Released
FileMaker 16 Platform now available
Also listed as available to buy in FileMaker UK store
I clicked on the link you provided. Looks like this will be the new portal to learning FileMaker.
wonder if the Learn FileMaker Pro book is the new learning material to get certified.
Thanks, Nicolai. That is the official notice! Glad you found it for me.
Good question, Planteg. It looks like this link is for training by Mark Conway Munro. So I don't think this is official FM Inc. material.
It is good to have another book on FileMaker, but I think FTS will be around for a while and will be the main book to prepare for Certification.
I believe FM will give us more official info about the learning FileMaker approach. I would not expect an FTS for 16.

Wow... no FTS? So training materials are changing? I wonder what this means for certification training? Hmmmm... interesting!!!
They have a plan. I'm sure the materials and info will be posted soon.
Did you see the Webinar on Training Initiatives? I would presume the 'docs' are part of that. Many of them are web-based only (no pdf), but you are more than welcome to print as PDF (as I do) for 'off-net' reference.
Damn, I liked FTS!
I kind of got used to it being there for every version. I do remember there was one from the first time the Certification become available in FMP version 7.
And the last four/five were particularly good.
Learn FileMaker Pro seems to be a good book, but only covers basics.
Online documents, videos, etc will be the new approach. I remember talk also about a certification guide. Which should give us a more centralized place to see what we need for the certification test.
During the Webinar, we were told that for those who wish to be certified, FTS will be replaced by a more streamline material. They didn't develop on this.
Now that FileMaker 16 is out, questions will come faster than responses .
My book covers all the basics but also introduces many advanced topics and advice (custom functions, JSON, ExecuteSQL, Custom Menus, FileMaker URL, AppleScript automation, custom extended privileges). It also contains a complete function reference with examples of every function.
Learn FileMaker Pro 16: The Comprehensive Guide to Building Custom Databases (Apress, 2017), 917 pages
The reaction from early readers has been overwhelmingly positive. Learn FileMaker Pro 16 has been called a “very comprehensive” and “superb reference for all levels of FileMaker users.” Some think it “worth every penny” and hint that it might be “actually worth more than the asking price.” The writing style and content quality has been called “some of the best I’ve seen in this kind of publication” and “absolutely top notch.”
An Amazon reviewer wrote “If you need a book that provides a clear, cogent and coherent discussion on database development in the Filemaker environment, this is the book to buy.”
Check out the free previews on Amazon, Apress, iTunes, etc.
