I do remember something about 109 - 110 chars. And 400 maybe for numbers. But you can always sort on more than 1 field instead of using a concat of data.

Not always. if you want to use a FileMaker chart object to chart grouped data, you can only sort on one field--unless they changed this in v16.
Now lemme tell you something, Filemaker charting sucks so hard that I can't even bother about it not being able to sort on something.

From previous thread, I found that the correct (accurate) answer from PhilModJunk is 100 characters. If you are hurting for space and your sort value is nearing the 100 mark, consider using Substitute to strip out unnecessary spaces and/or carriage returns. Character Limit for Sorting Fields

To any person considering using a FileMaker chart, feel free to use them; it is a good tool for what you need at the moment.
