The FileMaker 16 iOS SDK update is astonishing

I own an iPad Pro 12.9-inch but have just spend two joyful hours playing around with my App Store published FileMaker SDK 16 app on an old 2013 iPad Air. Having used the same massive database on all prior SDK versions I am absolutely amazed how well the largely unchanged file runs inside the new SDK 16 environment:

- Initial installation takes less than half of the time when compared to the SDK 15 app version

- Extremely quick re-launches even after reboots

- Recovers gracefully from forced reboots & forced restarts with no side effects

- Major improvements to the re-drawing of graphic elements

- Searches are executed exponentially faster than in previous incarnations

- Overall noticeable speed improvements

- All previously reported SDK related bugs have been fixed

Two tips:

- Make sure to rebuild your dependencies in FileMaker 15 or 16 before re-packaging your .fmp12 file

- Limit your SDK app to ’ARM64’ devices to leave out all ‘ARMv7’ related code. Since the SDK 16 now requires iOS 10 you only loose support for the iPhone 5, the iPad 4 and the iPhone 5c (see attachment)
