Just upgraded a solution to FM16 and now there is a little light grey icon of a magnifying glass on all field when you go into fine mode.
So far I am not seeing how to turn that off.. I assume it is right tin front on me...
I think this feature first appeared in FileMaker 12 and is a useful way to indicate to the user which fields are available for searching on, as well as indicating that they are actually in Find mode, as sometimes users tend to enter data into a record whilst in Find mode thinking that they are browse mode.
I don't think there is a way to turn them off....
There is a way to turn them off. In the Behaviour panel of the Inspector you can uncheck the Find Mode option for any selected field if you don't wish the fields to be searchable.
In addition, any field that can't be searched, e.g. container field, summary field, will never have the icon.
I do want the field searchable I just don't want that icon. Defiantly is not there in my FM 14 version.
It most certainly was there in FM14—
As sky already noted, it was introduced in FM12.
Really, somehow I never noticed it before. And certainly my client didn't because no one complained until they upgraded to 15.
