Database performance tools

I'm planning on scaling the solutions that I'm working on and I'm looking to optimize my solutions so that they perform as efficiently and as rapidly as possible.

Are there any tools out there that monitor the performance and processing speeds of specific calculations and scripts?  I find myself coming up with multiple methods to handle the same challenges and it would be so helpful to have a tool that gave specific feedback as to which method is performing the fastest and with the least strain on the system.  It would be awesome to be able to compare them again each other with a performance report.

I understand that each method is contextual and that there is an "Overall Picture" of performance based on how things relate to each other.   Having said that, I still think there would be enormous value in having a tool like this.

Are there any out there?

I work on a Mac's BTW with a Server/Client setup running Filemaker 15/16.
