You can use Dragon with filemaker to intake information. Add a trigger to a field and you can also detect certain keywords and perform scripted actions against it.
I've only ever seen people go the other direction (text to speech). Most of the APIs out there that do dictation conversion from audio are marginal at best.
If you try to reinvent the wheel versus using dictation software that has been around and highly polished (EG Dragon), then you're headed down an arduous path.
The FileMaker Go client lets you use the the built in voice dictation capabilities of iOS.
Works well here. Not perfect. Worth exploring.
Great price if you have the device and iOS already.
Thank you, Mike.
Thank you, Tony.
I downloaded a trial version of the Dragon and find it not so fantastic.
Yes, as Mike says, text-to-speech is more commonly used and also more stable and accurate.
I haven't seen much on this topic recently, so I'll post this here. I apologize. Does FileMaker allow for voice recognition for data entry and tabbing between fields by voice?
Not as a built in feature. See Mikes reply (#1) for info on using 3rd party software to do this.
