Here are the barcode scanners that I know of that support a "roundtrip" from filemaker go. Some may only work with specific hardware.
Essentially you use Open URL to open the barcode scanning app, and pass a parameter that allows the barcode scanning app to send the data back to filemaker go. It still requires the secondary app, but is automated in navigation versus using copy paste.

As an alternate method, you may be able to capture the barcode image in filemaker directly to a container field, and then send it to the filemaker server with a plugin that can process it into barcode data.

If your need for speed is enough that you're willing to throw money at the problem, a hardware barcode scanner will be faster than app switching or handing off work to a plugin on a server.
