Filemaker 16 and Google Services Integration

    user23334

starting from FM16PA it *should* be possible to interact with GSuite/Google Services without a plugin, sing REST techniques.

Has anyone an idea howto start such process ? We tried linking dbservices.com Google Calendar application, accessing the Google Developer Console, creating a new project, enabling Calendar APIs, creating a OAuth2 creds (redirect URI=https://google.com) but no token is actually downloaded and no calendar data can be accessed, except those data read by a simple web viewer page.

      Any help please ?

We'll need a lot more information about how you constructed the calls and what exact errors or responses you get back.

            You're absolutely right, windecorte.

We found a deservices.com web-page, reporting a procedure to link Filemaker to Google Calendar (https://dbservices.com/articles/filemaker-google-calendar-integration/ ).

Their page reports there's no need to use an external plugin, because of new Filemaker 16 features, correctly used in the example solution they provide in the same page; we tried, following the step-by-step guide inside the solution (Google Developer Console->https://console.developers.google.com, New project, Enable Calendar API, new OAuth2 authentication, retrieve Client Id and Client secret, insert Client Id/secret into their application), but, even if correctly logged into the google auth form, we are unable to proceed with such solution, because when the first button is clicked, the Google Login is ok, but the "Access code" is empty and the following button are inoperative.

The code upon "1.Get Code" pressing is the following:

We were focused on DBServices example, because we are interested in a FM solution, without an external plugin usage and FM16 should grant this.

But obviously there's something we missed in the procedure.

            Thank you for your advice.

I don't see what 'access code' is supposed to be, a field? a variable?  I also don't see anything that even remotely looks like that in the script.

You may be better off writing your own script from scratch if this one doesn't work.  You'll probably learn quicker and with more clarity that way.

If you run those scripts in the debugger, are any errors returned?  Are all the fields and variables involved getting plausible values?  If it doesn't work I would expect that some response is captured somewhere that will explain why.  And that's where you may get better progress if you write  your own script.

same here: cannot see anything regarding "Access Code" in the script workspace.

I suspect DBServices mentioned the solution should work WITHOUT an external plugin, *but* forgot to deeply test the same solution.

Actually our problem is accessing information about Google Calendar integration with an external application (like Filemaker): this is our very next step.

Thanks you again for your time.

                have a nice evening.

Where is your "Client ID" and "Client secret".
