If the lookup is configured correctly, the connection is strictly one-way, ie changing the data in the lookup target should have no impact on the lookup source, ie the field in the Contact table. (That's the whole idea behind a lookup: to copy data that then is independent of the source, instead of creating a reference back to that source.)
Can you give us more infos/screenshots (table, fields, relationships, lookup definition ...)?
btw, if you post screenshots, please don't attach them as files, but add them inline with the little icon in the toolbar of the editor. That allows viewing them side by side, making things much easier to check.
You actually pointed me to the fix. Although I had made the field a lookup, I used the same field from a different table. Once I inserted the actual field, it worked as hoped.
Thanks for your help.
It depends on the "attachment". PDFs cannot be inserted "inline" (only attached. I change these single page pdfs to JPEGs as needed.
And the type of image may be un-usable to all. I cannot view .tiff inline. JPEG (.jpg) and PNG (.png) seem to be the best options for inline.
Glad I could help.
You're right. Let me amend my original statement with the qualifyer *cough* qualifier "if possible".
Thanks! I get easily confused. LOL
