Can you hide the Quick Find menu item?

When a user uses the quickfind box in the header, I want do some error checking and possibly perform a slightly different find instead of using exactly what the user typed.

I found this article <Using scripts to control the behavior of Quick Find in FileMaker Pro | FileMaker > and followed its instructions. By default, "Perform Quick Find" does not appear in any menu, so I had to add it to a menu in order to replace the command with a script. But I really don't want it in a menu. I renamed it to not have a name, but that still leaves a space (which users can click on). Is there some way to hide it completely, but still replace the quickfind action with a script?
