What version of FileMaker Server are they connecting to?
Security is the big difference.
When you say it will not connect what happens? It cannot see the host or it sees the host but not any files? Any messages?
Also the what server version as databuzz mentioned.
Using the same FM Server 16 Server in both cases
I should also note that it is Filemaker Pro Advanced 16 on macOS running that same db
also works just fine.
Error Message: 802 error is displayed (Unable to open file ) with FileMaker Server Advanced
I think perhaps this problem may be an issue related to security.
I got a message at one point logging into the console that the security certificate was not correctly configured
I think, but have not managed to get it to appear again. Console through the web port 16000 does work.
I am not currently running a custom SSL certificate with
In General Database Selection on the Server: SSL for database connections is unchecked.
I expected that this would work till I resolved the certificate issues, granted the security is considerably less.
I have a certificate from GoDaddy but have no way to verify it since I am using dyn.org for dynamic
DNS I do not have verified root access to validate the certificate, and since Filemaker uses the Web Server ports
on my server I cannot place the required http:/mysubdomain.dyndns.org/.well-known/pki-validation/godaddy.html
web page for validation ( be nice if FileMaker could server this and other pages of this type certificate validation : )
Any thoughts or suggestions are most welcome.

Not completely certain that I have this right, but here is the current hypothesis
When I begin the process of syncing with the server I do Error Capture [ On ]
During my Sync Process I do a Ping Test as first contact with the server to verify connection.
Normally in FMGo 16, but not FMGo15, a Security Warning dialog is generated:
Filemaker Go can't verify the identity of xxx:5003. Do you wan to connect to
Always Permit Connection
So since I have error capture on I pickup error 802 "Unable to connect to the server"
and my sync will not work.
So, for the moment I created a small Ping Utility that has Error Capture [ Off ]
It displays the Security Warning and if I select "Always Permit Connection"
Then I can close the Ping Utility and Open the regular app and the sync works
Is there a more obvious way to achieve this without the ping utility?
It would be very helpful if there were a way to pre-set a variable that represents this dialog selection when error capture is set on and the dialog does not appear. How do we do this?
Right now, at the very least this will cause a problem for anybody using EasySync with FMGo 16 and a FileMaker Server without a security certificate.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for installing a security certificate and ELI5 why I need this? ALL my work is failing after the upgrade and management is not happy at all.
Thanks for your help. Ive referred the certificate error to our IT support.
