You might start by showing us your script.
The go to Related Records step has no effect on what is printed. The found set it produces is a set of records from a table occurrence called "The 4 questions", but then your script changes to a layout based on records from "plot points".
Thus there is nothing in your script that controls what records will be printed. Your script prints either the found set or current record that is present on the Pront Story Synopsis layout before the script is performed.
This is actually the only script that isn't working, all the others do, and I used the same structure as for example this one:
So the first step can be taken out? I only want the current record to be printed, isn't that what the first step is for? Could you please give me an example of a properly constructed print script?
You can use self relationship to get current record as found set.
But if you want to print only current record, there is no "previous record" in found set. You'd need another relation to get the values.
Thanks all, the printing option works now! Only one last hurdle I want to take before I call my program ready: Creating a record picker. I already started with this before, but I could not get it done. Time to dive in again. At this moments I am using 4 buttons at the top of the screen to navigate through the records, but it's not that elegant...
Not enough information.
What is a record picker?
Isn't that what it's called to have a list of all the records, and you can goto one of them by picking it from the list?
As Bruce said, it's not enough info. There are multiple ways to present a list to the user for selection purposes.
If you print with the Current Record option, this could be as simple as clicking a record in a list or table view to make it the current record before running your script or the user could be selecting from a value list or portal.
Sorry, I think things are getting mixed up now. My original post was about printing, that problem is solved now. I think I should not mix up my next task which is to create a record picker. I started this already in another topic a week or so ago.
"Doesn't record picker mean exactly what I (Andreas) have in mind, this very second; which I haven't described to anybody? But everybody knows what I mean, right?"
As Phil mentions; it can have a thousand meanings.
Present a list of a million recoreds?
Present a type-ahead filtered list?
Present a Mac style contact list?
Present a product list by category?
Nobody has ANY IDEA what is in your mind or what your users are doing.
