    FMS16 not start

    bkaisin

      Hello,

      I just bought a new Mac mini 3Ghz Core i7/SSD 256.

This machine will be a FileMaker server.

Just after opening the box and started the Mac, the first thing I installed is FMS 16 trial.

Installation was successful -> I clic Continue for the deployment.

But Safari shows me the following message:

The Database Server is not available. To edit server deployment, please start the Database Server first.

I restart but I have the same message.

It seems that I have to wait before upgrading to FMS 16.

      Or any suggestions?

      Thanks

      B

Did you leave everything default when installing or did you make non-default choices?

In activity monitor look at the list of running processes and in the top right corner, type in 'fms' to filter that list

if fmserverd is not listed but some other ones are then do this from Terminal:

          fmsadmin start server

if no processes are listed that start with 'fms' then do this

          sudo launchctl start com.filemaker.fms

Note that you shouldn't have to do this, the fms processes should have started automatically during the installation process so clearly something is off.  Look for any errors in any logs.

            Oooops, I found why…

I downloaded the FMS 16 trial when FM announced the new FM 16.

Today I received the dedicated Mac for this new FMS.

I found in a log: FMS has stopped because the licence has expired.

            They should put a message!

Ok, I will presume that everything will running smoothly with this version.

I will purchase this new version with 15 users.

            Sorry for disturbing

            B

              That's your message

FMS is not a user-based application, it's a background daemon, all events and messages are logged so that's where you look.
