Check the window is in browse mode.
I have been running it in Browse mode only.
It runs perfectly fine in Filemaker Pro in Windows, but in FM Go gives the error 3
The Import script step is only partially supported in FM Go. From the FM 15 Script reference:
FileMaker Go only supports importing from one FileMaker Pro file to another FileMaker Pro file.
FileMaker Go does not support importing to a new table.
I have checked for all that conditions.
It is importing records between two FM tables. and not a new table.
This I am sure has worked before, but now all of a sudden doesn't work.
I don't understand why it says Command is Unavailable, while Import is perfectly available in FM Go
Share your script by posting a screen shot or doing a text type copy paste from a PDF of your script, A Database Design Report or via one of the plug ins that make this possible. Maybe someone can then spot why you are getting this error.
Here I have attached my file.
any suggestions on how to get past this would be great
I have also tried a variety of File paths including hosted files, but the error is always Error 3 (Command is Unavailable)
test.fmp12.zip 152.5 K
Well I asked you to share the script, not the file.
I see two scripts with Import Records. Which one returns the error code?
the script named New Script

The script in your file is for a local file. You stated your file is hosted. Your script is also incorrect for a local file it should read file://"&Get(DocumentsPath)&"Myfile.fmp12 the // are missing.
From the FMGO 16 Developer Guide FileMaker Go 16 Development Guide
Example 1: Importing from a remote source (Remote.fmp12) into a local file (Local.fmp12)
In this example, the Local.fmp12 file needs a script that imports data from a remote source (Remote.fmp12). You need to use FileMaker Pro to create the script in the local file, then transfer the file to FileMaker Go. You can then run the script in FileMaker Go to import the data from the remote file.
- Open Local.fmp12 and Remote.fmp12 in FileMaker Pro.
- Create a script in Local.fmp12. For example:
Import Records [With dialog: Off; "Remote.fmp12"; Update existing; Mac Roman]and set up a path to the remote source file using your machine IP address. For example:
- Specify the import order.
- Close Local.fmp12.
- Transfer Local.fmp12 to FileMaker Go.
- Open Local.fmp12 in FileMaker Go and run the script.
The local file is updated with data from the remote file
This script will work. I have tested.
Thank so much for the reply.
but still haven't gotten it working.
Here I have a script that tries to import records from a hosted file to a local file.
The file path is "fmnet:/10.80.8.93/BTS Go_Test_Merge.fmp12"
the IP Address 10.80.8.93 being the server address of FM Server.
I also have included the "BTS Go Test_Merge.fmp12" hosted file in my External Data Sources.
schamblee : I also tried the file reference changes that you mentioned for local to local Records Import,
but it all gives the same error, Command Unavailable.
I mean if the file Reference mapping is wrong, then it should not work in FM Pro as well, right?
I don't understand why I get the Command Unavailable error.(Error 3)
It looks like it doesn't even look at the file source.
The script works fine on Filemaker Pro, but the error comes up only in FM Go.
I use Filemaker Pro Advanced 15 and Fm Go 15.
Can't think of what could possibly have changed.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Finally fixed the issue.
Looks like because I had the Dialog option On in Import Records Script step, it didn't work in FM Go.
Never thought a simple dialog could prove to be an issue.
Thank for all the input guys.
My first test I also left the dialog on and the script didn't work, but I didn't get an error, it just didn't import. That a good tip for others that may come across this post. Turn off dialog when importing records in FMGo.
