I have tried of installing Filemaker Pro 16 trial version .
Please suggest the solution. I am using windows 7 home premium 64 bit
You might check the requirements
- patch for Win installed?
- Microsoft .net stuff installed?
FMI does not list any Home edition for FMP16.
System Requirements for FileMaker Pro 16 and FileMaker Pro 16 Advanced | FileMaker
User have stated that it will run with Windows 10 Home edition.
Can we run FMP on Windows 10 Home Edition? Other ideas?
The Visual Studio C++ Libraries may be install on your computer from another software package and may be corrupt. I would suggest uninstalling if it is on your computer, then reboot computer, then try to reinstall FM. If it still fails I would try to download the Visual Studio C++Libraries from Microsoft's website, install the standalone library, then try to install FMP. If it still fails you may have to upgrade your Operating System.
Did you figure this out? I'm troubleshooting a problem on a client's solution as per the instructions I received from tech support while at DevCon, but I can't get FM Pro 16 installed on their laptop due to the same error message. If you know what resolved the issue for you (I know sometimes you don't know what resolved it!)... I would appreciate you sharing. Thank you!
I think I found out why I am having installation problems... and learned a lesson the hard way. The client has 148 important updates to be installed... the last time they installed updates was 2/12/15. No wonder I saw a malware warning while working on the computer. I never suspected this client wouldn't keep up with the security updates, but I know now.
I attached my flash drive, so now need to figure out somehow if I have malware on it as well.
Windows will prevent software from being installed if some updates have not completed and usually a reboot is require for Windows to finish. If you haven't copy anything to the USB Drive then most likely it's Ok. There are several anti-virus / malware software program that can scan the USB Drive.
Thank you schamblee. I did copy FileMaker (runtime) files from their laptop to the flash drive and my Mac, unfortunately. I also tried rebooting the computer a couple times, but had not installed any of the updates. I gave the laptop back to the owner to install the updates as well as an antivirus program, and then I will try again...
The Windows logs may give a hint at exactly what went wrong. FileMaker install just said intallation failed without any details, the log will tell more and may give an error number that can be googled.
