Thank you for your post!
If the data was displaying for you, I'd recommend Exporting data from Bento.
Newer Operating Systems will most likely have issues running Bento. This may be what you are experiencing.
What version of MacOS X is running on your older machine?
You might be able to try the Trial of Bento 4.1.2.
IF the data doesn't display I'm not sure it will be of much help but you might also see Bento 4 to FileMaker Migration Tool for use with FileMaker as you mention.
Additionally, I'm going to move this thread from the FileMaker Community Feedback Space (which is specifically for input on the Community itself) to the Discussions Space where you should receive more views and potentially more feedback on this topic!
My advice is to upgrade to 4.1.2 while keeping a copy of the original data. Then use the FM migration tool. FM may be more than you need but if Bento is not compatible??
Hello TSPigeon & BigTom,
Thanks for your advice! As it turns out, I was able to copy "restore" & copy the data into Word on the old MacBook & put it into iCloud. On the new MacBook Pro, I took it from iCloud on Word & copied the data into Numbers. (Excel would have worked, too, but Numbers seemed to transfer the data more accurately. It is a slow process, but I am happy to avoid inputting all that data again (which would have been impossible to really do.). I am not quite done yet. I did loose my most recent changes, but I can handle that! I am also happy that Numbers and Excel will work, as I already have them.
Anyway, I really appreciate your quick responses! Thank you very much! Cathy
FileMaker is a pretty seamless migration. It is always interesting when someone passes on FM in this case. It seems the cost of FM is an issue. I am curious to know what price point would have made FM an option for you.
