          HammerOz:

          Thank you for your post.

I am unable to replicate the issue.  Here are the steps I took:

          1. Using FileMaker Pro 16.0.1 under macOS Sierra 10.12.5, I have created a database file with one Text field, "Name".

          2. Switching to Layout mode, I went to View -> Guides, and both options are checked; "Show Guides" and "Snap to Guides".

          3. I dragged the right edge of the layout wider and smaller without any issue.

Please let me know what I am doing differently than you so I can reproduce the issue.

If you are trying to make the layout smaller, check to see that you don't have any object touching the right edge of the layout, as this will stop you from decreasing the width of the layout.

            Thank you TSGal,

The issue has gone away for now. I have had this on multiple occasions however and it prevented expanding as well as reducing layout width. It might be my hardware/ mouse . I will monitor.
