Is there a way to have a script import the tables from another file into the current file, making a new layout for each table in the file being imported, with headers identical to those in the tables being imported?
There's no way to automate the duplication of a layout from one file to another. Shouldn't be too hard to copy and paste though.
If you use import records with the "new table" option, you can import the data and create a new table for it at the same time. This will also create a simple rudimentary layout based on that table. So a single import can modify your file to have:
A new table
A new occurrence of the table on your relationship graph
A new layout
All will have the same name but these are three different parts of your solution.
Thank you! Is there a way to iterate through the layouts when doing Import Records? I could only find a drop-down menu to import layouts one at a time, but it would be nice if we could set a variable to determine which layouts to import.
You cannot import layouts so I do not know what you mean by your reply.
You can only import data. That import can be set up to create a new table, new (mostly blank) layout and new table occurrence. Doesn't import the layout at all.
