I would like to create two windows side by side. Does filemaker have such an option?
Check out this video.
With best regards Magnus Fransson.
If you use a little bit of maths and the adjust window script steps you can arrange windows side by side.
e.g. window one could have the width set to get(screenwidth) * 0.25 and the second window could have the remaining 75% of the width.
the videos are from Matt Petrowsky' ISO FileMaker Magazine
a card window belongs to a main-window (where it was started from). Means, they are glued to each other, when moving the master window, the card is moved as well
Matt 'solves' this by placing several master-windows out of the visible part of a screen
Cool video! (as all videos from ISO fmm)!
Thank you for your response. This video has been very helpful and informative.
You can also use the non-card choices to open other windows that would not be tied to the parent window. Using Perform script you can even make them totally independent.
Perform Script Open Window A parameter(Height;Width;Top;Bottom)
New WIndow A
Perform script Open Window B parameter(Height;Width;Top;Bottom)
New Window B
The trick is setting the dimensions to not overlap completely.
Top and bottom can be determined by simple formulas.
The method in the video works great for Mac but I need to display on IPad. Is there any way to use cards side by side in FileMaker go 16?
I am trying to do something similar to the email app on the iPad.
since 'move/resize window' isn't supported on Go, no. (that scriptstep is only supported for card windows on Go)
I suppose the great "WHY?" comes to mind. What can be done with side-by-side card windows that cannot be done by other means?
