How do I switch all the field in a layout to a different table. The layout has 194 fields. I do not want to do it one field at a time. Any suggestions.
Make a duplicate of the layout, as a backup.
Make a note of the current TO name.
Cut all the fields from the layout (or all objects if it's easier).
Open the Manage Database and change to the relationships graph.
Rename the current TO name (just put a 2 on the end).
Rename the destination TO name to the current TO name.
Close Manage Database screen
Paste the fields pack onto the layout.
Open Manage Database and restore the TO names.
If you have to do it one at a time then a 'macro' application (like auto hot key) can help you do that much quicker
Thank you for the prompt reply. I get the gist of what you are explaining. Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the term "TO".
"TO" is table occurrence, or the name of the table in the relationship graph. When you go to layout mode you will see the TO written to the right of the table name.
Thank you. At times I am a bit slow and dense. You have been very helpful.
You can also use a third party like myfmbutler Clip Manager.
Another option is to use the Field Picker. I sometimes find, when confronted by situation such as this, to delete all existing fields from the layout, then use the Field Picker to select all the fields I want on the new layout and drag them all on at once. The downside is you lose all the formatting and layout design you previously had.
