    Dacons Mail.it error -37

    cril

Hi all I'm having no luck contacting Dacons support so I thought someone here might be able to help me. I'm running two emailing scripts  one of which is on File A and the other is called by the script on File A from another open database we'll call File B. This is because I have two applications which require email receive and send activity but do separate things - with a lot of work and retesting I could put them together if needs be and that might solve this problem (which never occurs with File B separately - not tested File A sufficiently).

This problem only occurs after a few hours operating but the time seems variable. In the last instance it was after 12 hours of checking POP and sending anything to be sent (which was zero for both File A and File B) with 10 second intervals between each complete script run

The problem crashes Filemaker 14 and the report says

      Mon Jul 10 06:07:08 2017, [ERROR]   - Emai_Connect failed. Error number is -37

According to the manual 037 is connection timed out which presumably is the same as this -37 error.

So the obvious question is has anyone else come across this and has anybody any ideas on how I stop my database from crashing?

Thanks for reading this perhaps overly detailed request for help!!

We're also have zero response from Dacons, after many years of good service. We're now testing 360Works Email plug-in due to this, as we cannot depend on a company that is not communicating with their customers - you'll find others reporting the same within this forum.

However, Dacons have recently released a later 6.0.5.38 plug-in downloadable from their website, so are still in business. We have sometimes had to downgrade when running older versions of FileMaker, for instance back to 6.0.5.36 for FMP v14. I don't believe the log identifies the version in use?

          Regards

You can check and try for a correct running version by asking for a non-existing version like

            for windows:

            http://www.dacons.net/download/mailit_win_v_6.0.0.00

            or for MacOS:

            http://www.dacons.net/download/mailit_mac_v_6.0.0.00

The newest version available is 6.0.6.38

They are still in business, but their lack to respond to support-tickets is not reassuring. I am happy not to have to re-configure my scripts to use 360Works-email (which I was using until about 3 or 4 years ago) again though :-)

We're with you on not wanting to rework all our solutions to use another email system, but we have had excellent feedback and troubleshooting working with the 360Works team and have carried out the initial changes to scripting on one solution, in a modular format, in preparation for if we need to roll this out across our product range if we need to.

I don't know what Dacons are, or are not up to, but they do need to resolve their problems if they're not going to lose more people like us.

We haven't taken a final decision on this, but months of no response is encouraging us away.

              Regards
