I would have thought that given Messages is an Apple application that there would have been a simple script to link Messages and FMP for sending SMS without having to use plugins or subscribe to an external company/application. We used to use AppleScript to integrate Apple's messages system from a few years ago (iMessage? I can't remember what they called it back then) but found everytime a system upgrade was installed it broke the AppleScript, which had to be updated.
As a result we don't do any form of this type of integration anymore and try to stick to using online services and systems that will work on Macs and Windows.
