Since Messages is an Apple application is there a way of opening Messages from within FMP from a MAC computer and sending an SMS with Messages? Or at least Open Messages with an Applescript.
"iMessage://" & Filter ( phoneNumber ; "0123456789" )
You can use this with the standard openURL script step. If there's a match in your Contacts app, this will append an existing thread.
FileMaker 16 compatible.

I already did a search and found the same items that you directed me to. They seem to be all recommendations to Twilio and Plivo etc.
I would have thought that given Messages is an Apple application that there would have been a simple script to link Messages and FMP for sending SMS without having to use plugins or subscribe to an external company/application. It is simple to dial/phone direct from FPM using the "tel://" & Purchases::Vendor Phone from "Open URL", I am surprised that something similar is not available for sending SMS.
Ok. I wasn't sure what other answers were there. Nothing native. You might research AppleScript to see if that might be used. FM can:
Sent from miPhone
We used to use AppleScript to integrate Apple's messages system from a few years ago (iMessage? I can't remember what they called it back then) but found everytime a system upgrade was installed it broke the AppleScript, which had to be updated.
As a result we don't do any form of this type of integration anymore and try to stick to using online services and systems that will work on Macs and Windows.
This is AWESOME, thank you. This is exactly what I was after, works perfectly.
That is pretty cool!
Great. I have this part working to get into iMessage. "iMessage://" & Filter ( phoneNumber ; "0123456789" )
I want to have the message text from a filemaker field placed into the message area in iMessage. Is there a way to do that?
seaserpent There's no way to set the message body. The Messages framework doesn't have a public API. I've tried every way imaginable.
