I did not hear anything about the developer challenge this year. Is it cancelled?
There will not be a Developer Challenge this year. With the new format we're trying other things this year.
I thought that last year's challenge, which produced software for charitable organizations in the Las Vegas area, was one of the highlights of that DEVCON and was one of the best ideas for this yet. Hate to think that we wouldn't do the same this year or in the future.
IDK, but half the members of the defending champion team are unable to attend this year, so the field is wide open!
Half of my team—who did NOT win—aren't going to be there either, so you're safe from us, too.
It certainly was the high point of our Devcon, to sit around in a hotel room giggling like little girls into the early hours of the morning. Yeah, good times!

That is disappointing. What other things are replacing the developer challenge?
Now, Jonathan -- do these manly men look like the giggling schoolgirl types?
(Okay, maybe after 2am on Day 3.)
Well three of them look like men, anyway. The fourth one can't even grow any hair.
Well, you had to be there.
Oh, that's right, you were.
What "new things" are serving non-profits and/or giving non-presenting developers a chance to show their stuff?
