The easiest way is to use Air Drop to transfer the files.
You will need to download FileMaker Go 16. I prefer to use dropbox to transfer files.
Upload your database to iCloud drive or to Dropbox.
Download and install FMGo
Start Up FMGo
Select the device icon
then select the download icon
select location : it default to iCloud Drive
then select your file.
With iOS 11 and Files they will be visible direct from iPad screen without using iTunes.
More you can move files from a folder to another one.
But it's future.
You don't have to use iTunes now. You can use iCloud, Dropbox, or similar service. This can be done within FMGo, with a few clicks.
With version 16 and the addition of JSON it can be scripted to download to the device.
Interesting! Care to share the details?
Here, my method :
1° I've made a special database where the main fields are containers.
2° I throw each data base to update in one field.
3° I transfer this database using DropBox from my computer, it's only a copy from a folder to the DropBox public folder or another one.
4° When one open Dropbox on iPad and take the DropBox file, they open it with FileMaker
5° Then they execute a little script that export from container the updated databases.
6° They can suppress from main board FileMaker this database after exporting.
It's very simple to use and it takes only time of transfer and some seconds to activate button.
I provided detail using the icon with in FMGo my previous post.
I used Dropbox API to script the uploading and downloading of a file to and from a container field.
Here is a sample of viewing Dropbox within FM by seedcode. https://www.seedcode.com/filemaker-oauth-dropbox-part1/ using a plugin, which FMP16 does not require.
