Use Filter Function to just receive letters and then use count on that
Count ( Filter ( YourFieldName ; "IE" ) )
Is this within a table occurrence or do you want it in a parent table counting values in a child table?
This is not working.. I tried with same syntax as your,
status list = summary (status field)
status filter = filter (field name status list; "IE")
status count = count (status filter field)
m i doing wrong way ??
I am trying to count repetitive values of a field. example there is one field " status" and the values options are "IE", IE1", IE2, IE3 etc. If m trying to count repetitive number of "IE" , its count all including IE1, IE2 and IE 3. How can i differentiate between them? for now i have done this:
status list = summary of "status field"
status list count = calc(pattern count (status list;"IE")
but this is giving me all values including "IE" string.. not only "IE string"
It sounds like you want to count how many instances there are "IE" in a list and not count instances of "IE1", "IE2", and so on.
PatternCount(status list; "IE") catches all of "IE", "IE1", "IE2", and so on, but you can modify this so that it will only find "IE".
Modify the search to find "IE" with a boundary marker before and after it. The list already has "¶" between items. You can use that as part of your search. You just have to ensure that the list always has a "¶" before and after each element. Use something like
PatternCount("¶" & status list & "¶"; "¶" & "IE" & "¶")
ValueCount( FilterValues( yourList; test_item))
