I want to make a print layout but need to clear that how we would split the record into the multiple pages.
I want to clear more than how it would get expand, I mean I just create one print layout and then I put a lot of fields display in the print, so my concern is that how it would get expand(split) into the multiple pages.
In "list view", you can only go as wide as your layout allows. Changing the Zoom level (print) will allow you to fit a bit more, as will Landscape mode in Print/Page setup. Otherwise with many fields, you can "stack" the fields (form or list view), into many 'rows' of fields.
Is that what you meant?
Use the Layout Assitant and create a List View layout and move many fields into it (through the assistant, not manually). You will see how FileMaker suggests the layout be setup.
An alternative is to have several layouts, but printing will not be as easy. Print page one on layout one, print page one on layout two, go to page two... Or get groups (finds) of records that will fit on one page and loop the various layouts & print, find the next set and repeat...
Another alternative is to export to Excel and use its print capabilities to get what you want?
Got it, thanks.
A zoom percentage as a print setting is Mac only.
In layout mode, if you use the view menu to show page breaks and use print set up to select printer, paper size and paper orientation, you will get page break lines on your layout to show you what will print and where the page will break. This is of limited use if there are fields on your layout set to slide up as this makes it difficult to predict where the page will break for a given set of data.
