Dynamically Capturing Field Data

Hi,

I have a series of similar fields.  Depending on the conditions some fields in the series will be empty, others will be populated.  Well, I'm trying to dynamically capture the first word of the field that becomes populated first.  So here's how I've been approaching this:

LocateFirstPopulatedField :

Case(

not IsEmpty (Field A); "Field A";

not IsEmpty (Field B); "Field B";

not IsEmpty (Field C); "Field C";

not IsEmpty (Field D); "Field D";

not IsEmpty (Field E); "Field E";

""

)

FirstWordInFirstPopulatedField

LeftWords (LocateFirstPopulatedField);1)

The problem is that I'm running into is that I'm getting the first word of the field name rather than the first word of the contents.

Seems like it's gotta be an easy fix, but I'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
