What are your plans for long maintenance shutdown of the Community? Hopefully everyone got the memo.

Have a chance to clean up the inBox and get caught up.
See Peanuts comic strip to see what happens to Linus when Lucy steals his blanket to wash it to understand how this might be for some...
I'll probably just Slack off.

Retire? Always my answer to questions like that.
Some day in the future, I'll be right
Makes me wonder, though, what my users would say to me if my maintenance shutdown was that long...
I think my answer would come true all to quickly...
I'll be doing hurricane cleanup here in SoFL.
Our hearts will be with you, flukey!
How badly is the damage?
Good luck with the cleanup, and I hope everybody you know isn't hurt.
I also hope everybody is helping each other to clean up the mess.
I think I'm going to start working on a WordPress site for my neighbour

That is a worthy project.
i hope some of you sleep! Some contributors seem to post 24 hours
Well that's the blessing/curse of smart phones.
I might be up with insomnia due to a migraine or sitting with a family member at the ER with nothing better to do and at really terrible times of the day, out comes the phone to check on the FileMaker community...
Pray that this transition is better than the previous one to Jive. Jive finally started working well, but not after transition problems, loosing people's points, working really slowly, etc. The previous TechNet one sure was simple and fast and a lot to be said for that!
Anyone know what the new system will look like or what software it will use? And will we still have a point system for participation? Will we still have the option of hiding behind anonymity of not using our names? Will we have to re-register? Will it be tied to the knowledge base system? It seems we are loosing connectivity to our FBA company info such as our licenses will no longer be accessible to us that way per the previous announcement. And the new one will only be an English based one and the other language areas are going away. I wonder what else will be lost... and what will be gained!
I guess we'll see!
I hear you... I will be joining you in the cleanup and hoping the 3 week electric restroation is a mis-quote...in my neighborhood.
We will have English and Japanese available.
I sure hope we retain most of what people have been used to so far. I liked TechNet for the same reasons, simple and fast.
I know the community has a cost for FMI, but they certainly benefit from the community provided support vs traditional support.
I'll be working hard getting the new site ready to go!
To answer taylorsharpe's questions...
We're upgrading to the latest version of Jive. Some things will look the same and some are different. The new site is fully responsive and behaves well on mobile devices. There will be no more blank places when browsing on your phone. We also took advantage of the upgrade to design some new icons and update the color scheme across the Community. I'm writing a post that will be available once we turn the lights back on that outlines all the changes. Please read that to figure out how to find your favorite places and resources.
There will still be a points system for participation. Your points and level will carry over, but all the pencil, star, and other badges except for certifications will not transfer. There are new badges available in the new system. It may take a week or so for the dust to settle on the points system change, but we're doing everything we can to have that ready by Thursday, too.
Yes, people will be able to not use their names, but we will continue to encourage people to use their name as their username or to make their name visible to members.
No need to re-register. Your account, password, and other profile information will move.
The FBA space will stay, but there will be no link between our FBA management system and Jive. We've upgraded our FBA management system, and the custom code on the Jive side would have required a major re-write in order to work with the upgrade. We will deliver FBA and FDS software benefits via the Electronic Software Distribution system (as we did with FileMaker 16). The old license keys are archived, so members who did not save them before the upgrade will be able to get them via an email to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will be no link to the Knowledge Base out of the gate, but linking the Community and the KB is something we're looking into. I cannot promise if or when that will happen, but it's on my wishlist for the FileMaker Community.
I hope this helps. I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of the new site.
RosemaryTietge thanks for the detailed explanation.
what is the programming languages i need to learn to working in wordpress karina
And thank you and all the other Masters on this forum for the help you all continue to give.
Saved me more times than I care to mention...
Php and JS
Does that not depend upon if you want to use the Starter Template(s) or get down and dirty? Add HTML, CSS with that JS & PHP if you need to. But I advise new-to-WordPress to tread lightly (walk before you can run). The main point of using a canned solution like WP is that you should not need to learn any programming.
It had been years ago sins I did anything with Word Press, I only created one site with 1.0
But I’m still working on the Word Press Site for my neighbour.
You don't need any programming language if your satisfied with the standard setup of the theme you have chosen.
But if you want to customise the theme, and of course I want to do that, knowledge of PHP, CSS and HTML is very handy.
If you don’t want to customise the theme but are not totally satisfied you might want to consider one off the paid themes.
Any tips for now after my trials and errors:
Know want you want to show on you WP site and how you want things to work, the chose a theme. I found choosing the theme the most difficult but maybe that’s because i’m a WP new-by.
If you want to use more than one photo in columns next to each other, make sure your photo’s are the same size.
If you do want to customise, you maybe want to use firebug (FireFox) to see what css or php you need to customise.
If you use a plugin, do it from the start.
I used portfolio plugin to show the portfolio as a widget, but it doesn’t use the standard portfolio. So I had to create the portfolios twice.
I thought I would be finest in two days (after my normal working hours), but I’m still working on it.
Let me know how it goes and what theme you choose, I’ve chosen the free Wall Street theme.
