Have the Right/Left/Middle Values functions always included a carriage return at the end? Can't believe I never noticed this before:
As long as I've used them, they have included the return character. I believe the help guide specifically states this as well. FileMaker Pro 16 Help

Doh! And I checked out the help section before I posted- I swear! I guess it never impacted me until I started using those functions with the JSON key and value list functions

My "rule of thumb", if the function name ends in "values" (plural), there's a return appended to the end.

I've gotten out of the habit of using List() to generate lists and instead build it from scratch, adding to the already generated variable's contents. Maybe because I learned it from a wise person here, but also because of these functions. Keep the lists the same. RightValues() will generate a sublist that includes the return at the end, so why not any generated list I make. I always put a "¶" at the end. So it might look like:
Set Variable ($all ; $all & MyTable::MyField &"¶")
Retrieving data ...
