A strange 'recovery'

Filemaker server 15.0.3, clients 15.0.3. File about 3.7 gb size, originally created in Filemaker 13. Functioning normally for many years, getting backed up regularly with 'consistency check'. No problems.

Just as a trial I tried to recover this file and the result was surprising. Got a warning saying that the recovered file should not be used 'going forward' and should be used only for salvaging data. This raises several questions in my mind:

1. Is the original file 'damaged' or 'corrupt' in way but still having no problems hosting it or having consistency check?

2. If the above is true then should one be doing a recovery of 'normal' files every now and then to check that the files are okay?

3. Is the recovery process damaging the file in any way?
