Insert from URL - error 102 (Field is missing)

Seems like I'm having a tricky one.  When I use the script step "Insert from URL", I get the error 102, if I assign the script step to put the result into a field.  When I have the result go to a variable, then immediately follow that script step to set the field to the variable, then it works fine.  Some of my users are not on FMP 16 so the Insert from URL to a variable is not available on their client machines.

So the question is, why am I getting the Field is missing error and how do I fix it?  The field is obviously available to the script since the Set Field script step works fine.

Thanks for the help,
