Has anyone heard anything about updates to bring FM Cloud up to spec with the rest of the product line?
FileMaker Product Roadmap 2019
Is the definitive word I guess.
At least this decade should work.
Joking aside you can of course attend the cloud presentation at a FileMaker conference.
Or join the webinars they run on 25th October about the news.
I was hoping something would be official by now or very soon. Have not been able to really try, do to PSOS limitations. Anxious to see how they will handle in the next major release.
Are we getting into speculating about product? (see Community Use Agreement)
Roadmap is the correct source of this information.
Well, they release twice a year, in April and October.
So unless plans change and as far as I know, there should be something coming soon. But it's up to FMI whether they release a v15 with bug fixes this October or a v16 based new version.
So best bet is to wait for 25th October.
Yep, since we are most of the way through October, was hoping something was in the wind to be released soon.
I would imagine we’ll hear something during the Roadmap. I’m waiting on parity with v16 as well. As soon as FileMaker Cloud supports the Data API, I’m moving all of my projects there.
I think this is one of those things where if you know the answer you can't mention it. Go to DevCon and register for RoadMap webinars.
I can say the comparison with 15 to 15, FMC was super performant for a given set of hardware. I beat the heck out of the trial when it was available and the amount of work done with 1 cpu and 1GB RAM was amazing.
We’ve been using FMC for about half a year now, and overall it has performed amazingly well. Performance wise, we had to bump up our instance size one notch (T2 med to large) which helped a great deal, but admitedly most of the remaining performance issues are due to a non-optimised database design for WAN connectivity (which I’m going through and fixing one by one). The only technical issue we‘ve had was a brief period of time where the server script engine would fail to launch after an instance restart. Overall, it’s been a great solution for the size and type of user base that our company has.
The one feature I’m truly missing are scheduled server scripts. That would make my life so much easier. Let’s see what they say on 10/25!
Now that we‘ve seen the release of FileMaker Cloud 16.0.1, has anyone had success using Azure to manage secure logins Using GroupID as Wim recommends? This would simplify managing Security for hosted multi-file solutions, especially when adding/deleting users in Azure AD Groups.
