Database Assets Stored Externally in AWS S3

I had a question regarding how FM Cloud, AWS EC2, and AWS S3 can hopefully function together for what my co-worker and I are trying to achieve for our project.

We currently have our database hosted on our FM Cloud, which is being powered by EC2. That part is all well and good. Our problem lies in connecting our database in FM Cloud to photo assets we have stored in S3. We are trying to determine what we need to do in order to have the assets in the container field of our database stored externally in S3.

Do we need to make those assets public in S3 or this there a script we need to run in either the database or FM Cloud module? We have read articles on both FM and S3 but are not quiet able to figure out what step we are skipping.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Apologies if this question has been asked before, please feel free to point me to that post and delete this question.
