Hi, I use a custom font on my project, now I my users don't have that font on their computers how can I fix this?
I want to everyone can see my project with my font (the custom font I use)
you will have to install the font on each client device.
Not sure how to do it on iOS.
Many developers avoid this situation by not using any such special font. (but perhaps you need that for Farsi?)
In theory, you could insert the PDF file into a container field and a script could install the font by exporting the field's contents to the correct folder. I have never done that myself though and do not know if you might run into folder permissions errors for users that don't have "admin" rights to their machine.
This could also violate a user license on the font if you do not have the right to distribute copies of the same with your solution.
Yea In Farsi, How can I do this work? I don't know, do you have any example sir?
Please read my entire reply again.
I already told you that I've never actually done this. I'm just posting a possible avenue for you to explore. I can tell you that this approach, if it works at all, will depend on the version of FileMaker, the OS (mac or windows) and whether the font's license permits you to do this.
The FileMaker version that you are using makes a difference because some windows versions will require an added "configure fonts" step that must be done manually before a font that's installed in the computer but not yet listed as a font in FileMaker becomes something that your solution can use.
So I can't do anything the font on my project install when any user open my project?
I want to do the best way if I can.
And.. as philmodjunk already said, Windows OS requires admin privilege to install fonts.
All of the reasons herein are why most FM developers don't use custom fonts..
Noone said you can't do it.. we just said that it is difficult and you will have to figure out how to do it on your own.
what about Mac?
Does the entire UI need to be in that font, or just a specific thing? With a web viewer you can supply and specify a font dynamically, but I would not write my entire UI in a web viewer either.
Do some research and figure out how to install fonts on Mac then figure out how to trigger install programmatically (perhaps some kind of scripting lang can do this).
Once you figure it out then come back and post a solution so that WE can learn from YOUR work for a change.
all of my fields must be "FARSI" and the farsi font is a custom font as all of you knows.
on macOS, just double click the font file. The fonts application will open - and it has an option (button) to install that font
take care that if there are errors (ie font is aleady installed or the font is damaged), it will not install..
Then you might try export field contents with the option to automatically open the file. That should do same as double clicking the file.
So if anyone can't see my custom font before install on their computer or mac please give me the best suggestion or idea if you have this issue do this.
Can I attach the font to my project and when everyoe open the project first download attach file and install them?
There are installers that can install your solution and fonts as well. You’ll need to research those if you want to try that option.
on Filemaker? can you explain me more? if you know, please learn me if you can.
Surely you can web search on the word “installer”?
All an installer really does is copy files from one location to another so you just need an app for customer’s OS that you can configure to copy font and FileMaler files to the right locations.
